Adair Co. Elementary School Open House

A huge crowd prompted Adair County Assistant Superintendent Brenda Mann to have a second registration table set up only 15 minutes into their Open House.

The people in the photo above were part of a line that stretched around the building.

Parking was at capacity around the school and traffic lined both sides of Indian Drive, up to the football field and into the parking lots at the High School.

Designed by RBS Design Group, the new Elementary School project consisted of approximately 70,000 SF. It was designed to have load-bearing masonry walls with brick veneer, light-gauge metal trusses and a standing-seam metal roof. The HVAC is a ground loop geo-thermal.

The field brick on the new school was Smoked Tudor, manufactured by Sioux City Brick and the two accent brick are Lighthouse Gray Velour and Ebony Black, manufactured by Belden Brick.

The Masonry Contractor, Wasco, Inc. (Nashville, TN), was employed by Venture Contracting, of Glasgow (KY), who served as General Contractor.

The next photo is of the former Adair County School Bus #23, which was used to create a unique feature for the interior of the new elementary school.

Former Adair Co. School Bus

The novel school bus art is now complete. The new paint job and lettering proclaims the piece of art to be Adair County Elementary School Bus #1.
