The Keystone Cinemas in Bardstown recently opened and are a great example of the versatility of splitfaced concrete masonry units.
Buzick Construction, also of Bardstown, used these architectural masonry units, manufactured by Lee Brick and Block’s Bardstown location, to construct a beautiful, low maintenance facility that will stand the test of time.
The units were stained to achieve the desired colors and were manufactured with an integral water repellent.
Vertically scored split-faced units, as well as traditional split-faced units were used to create this functional and eye-pleasing design.

Boren Red Wirecut Brick With Brixment B-500 Mortar

If you’ve ever come to the junction of Route 31 and Highway 245 in Bardstown (KY), you’ve seen this great looking strip center that includes the China Star Buffet and Grill.
Built by Robert Mattingly and Sons, Inc., of Louisville, this project used a Boren Red Wirecut brick as the exterior veneer and included Brixment’s B-500 (Buff) mortar and 4″ Lightweight Splitface CMU’s in our own Oakcolor.
All of the masonry materials were supplied by the Bardstown location of Lee Brick and Block.

American Flag Made From Masonry Products

When Charlie Wilson, owner of R.L. Wilson Masonry of Owensboro (KY) built a new storage facility at his office, he went above and beyond the call of duty for masonry contractors.
Not only did he build in out of masonry materials, he installed an American flag in the wall, using painted splitface masonry units, glazed masonry units and good ‘ol fashioned ingenuity.
Natural grey and Camelia red lightweight concrete splitface units were used, along with Lehigh’s natural grey mortar.

The local Owensboro location of Lee Brick and Block provided the masonry materials and wishes to thank R.L. Wilson Masonry for not only using masonry to build their new facility, but for the tremendous gesture towards our great country.
Starbucks In Owensboro (KY)

The Starbucks in Owensboro (KY) features integrally colored concrete masonry units supplied by Lee Brick and Block’s local office.
This store was built by Marathon Builders of Dallas (TX) and they employed L.A. Buford, Inc., an Owensboro (KY) based masonry contractor.
The soft-white concrete masonry units you see in the photo below are our Eggshell units and are produced by several of our locations.
These integrally colored units offer a bright, easy to work with exterior and will make your next building project one to show off … just like we’re doing here.

Strategic Marketing’s New Louisville Location

Strategic Marketing recently moved into their new Louisville (KY) location. The building project was designed by Bayus Design Works, a local architectural firm.
The general contractor on this project, Holloway-Arnold Construction, also of Louisville, employed Mark Hendren and his Lay-Em All Masons team.

The face brick you see in the photo above is Cranbrook from Hanson Brick and was supplied, along with all the other masonry materials, by the Louisville location of Lee Brick and Block.
There were over 40,000 Cranbrook face brick used on this project and over 3000 SF of concrete masonry units.
The concrete masonry units in the photos above are 4″ X 8″ X 16″ Normal Weight Light Range Buff for the stretcher units and 4″ X 4″ X 16″ units for the sills, also Light Range Buff units.
The mortar is Brixment’s B-133.

Belden Brick Used On Bowling Green (KY) Jr. High

Bowling Green (KY) recently built a new Jr. High School and the project architect, Ross-Tarrant Architects of Lexington (KY), selected 2 different brick from Belden Brick as part of their exterior veneer.
Belden’s Sea Gray Velour and 671 Velour were chosen as the field and accent brick, along with a Chocolate splitface concrete block.

The masonry contractor, Whit-Cor Masonry of Murray (KY), enhanced the project with the great corner details like the ones you see in the photo below. The general contractor, Alliance Corporation of Glasgow (KY) made sure the project was completed on-time and that this school was ready to serve the students of this Warren County town.
The accent brick were inset and outset from the field brick and the Trenwyth groundface block with the 8″X8″ look were used to transition from the field brick into the large panel of accent brick.
This close-up shows the inset Belden 671 Velour accent brick in a soldier course, the Belden Sea Gray Velour field brick and the Chocolate splitface concrete blocks that were used on this project.
The local Lee Brick and Block office in Bowling Green (KY) supplied all of the masonry materials on this project and is proud to have been selected by Whit-Cor Masonry, Ross-Tarrant Architects and Belden Brick.

Arby’s Newest Location in Louisville (KY) Supplied by Lee Brick and Block

Louisville’s newest Arby’s store, located on Shelbyville Road, across from The Mall St. Matthews, was recently completed and is open for business.
The masonry contractor, Bohannon Masonry and the general contractor, Derek Engineering, both of Louisville, worked diligently to complete it before winter hit in Kentucky.
The masonry materials were supplied by Lee Brick and Block’s Louisville location, after a careful selection process by Ted Williams, Arby’s Director of Construction and Bill Moorman, President of RTM/Arby’s of Indianapolis (IN).
We at Lee Brick and Block are proud and honored to produce the concrete masonry units for Arby’s in the newest additions to our integrally-colored splitface masonry unit line, Arby’s Yellow and Arby’s Chocolate.
The units you see in the photo above are 4″ Splitface Arby’s Yellow, 4″ Arby’s Yellow Smooth Scored and 4″ 8-Split Flute Arby’s Chocolate.

Wyndall’s Foodland Uses Splitface Masonry Units

If you’d like to see two great colors, red and charcoal, integrally blended into a splitface concrete masonry unit, look no further than the Wyndall’s Foodland in Owensboro, KY.
R.L. Wilson Masonry, of Owensboro, was the mason contractor who installed these great looking units.
Collignon and Nunley Architects, also of Owensboro, was the architect who selected the use of and the colorization of the concrete masonry units. These units were installed under the watchful eye of Envision Contractors, the general contractor.
Load bearing masonry walls have been around a long time and have always given good service at a fair cost.

John Hardin High School Football Fieldhouse - Radcliff, KY

Back in 2003, the new football fieldhouse at John Hardin High School was greatly welcomed and has been a tremendous asset to the Hardin Co. (KY) community of Radcliff.
Designed by Peck Flannery Gream Warren Architects, of Elizabethtown and built by E.H. Construction, of Shepherdsville, the 14,125 SF facility used several different masonry products to ensure low maintenance and long life.
Along with natural gray concrete masonry units, the masonry contractor, PCM Construction, Inc. of Louisville, used Beechwood colored splitface masonry units and vertically scored smooth Timber colored units from Lee Brick and Block’s Louisville location.
The segmental retaining walls are Anchor Diamond Beveled Tan units.

New Country Mart Under Construction In Taylorsville (KY)

Taylorsville, Kentucky will soon have a new Country Mart and we at Lee Brick and Block want to send our thanks out to the architect, Adkins and Associates Architects of Louisville (KY) and to the owners for designing and building with load-bearing masonry walls.
The General Contractor on this building project, EH Construction of Shepherdsville, is overseeing the installation of the integrally-colored concrete masonry units, named Macon, which are being supplied to the mason contractors, Coleman and Coleman Masonry, by Lee Brick and Block’s Louisviile (KY) location.
The Macon (integrally colored) units were manufactured as 8″ smooth stretchers, 8″ half-highs and 8″ splitface lightweight masonry units.
